I questioned how I wanted to go about blogging this one. This beautiful family with their adventurous children held with it a touch of sorrow for me.
I was contacted awhile back by Britney to take family photos for them. Awesome! Of course! As we were in communication, we realized that we had a mutual friend, a friend who, along with her husband and three sweet children, past away this summer in a car accident. In college I played volleyball and lived with Kathryne, while Britney was in a Bible study with her just this past spring. You can see why I was hesitant to incorporate this. Not quite what you’d expect from a happy family photoshoot, huh? But I love the way God works. I love that He led Britney to contact me amongst all the other photographers out there. In our brief time together she was a blessing to my soul as we talked about the legacy our friend Kathryne has left.
As I was going through these photos, my favorites are the ones of Britney with her darling daughter. I couldn’t help but picture the way Kathryne loved on her own children. What a special relationship between a mom and dad and their children! Parents, we have a calling. Let’s rise up and lead our littles well, just the way Kathryne and her husband Jameson were intentionally living out Christ to their children. Losing such a beautiful friend has caused me to cherish the people in my life in a way I hadn’t before. It has also burned an even deeper passion into my soul to help people capture, through photography, these moments we call today but will soon be our tomorrow. As you look through these photos and as you celebrate Thanksgiving, reflect on what God has done this past year in your life. As cliche as it sounds, who and what are you grateful for?
On a lighter note, I had so much fun chasing these two little ones around as the last of the warm fall sun was setting. (Candid shots of kids is way easier and way more fun.) I hope these pictures help warm your heart as the snow is now upon us. More importantly, I hope memories of friends and family warms your heart as well.
